The Yoknapatawpha Arts Council invites you to an exclusive inaugural event at Windy Hill on Dutch Bend. This immersive evening will feature a progression of experiences from sunset views on the balcony and live music on the expansive front porch to an outdoor asado-style dinner on the lawn.

Guests will enjoy curated cocktails, artisan demonstrations, and more! Christian Wash Garvey of Pinewood Press Co. will create live works throughout the evening, each guest carrying home a piece of the night. Featured works by master craftsman Greg Harkins highlight the enduring legacy of fine woodworking and generational craftsmanship.

Set within the storied landscape of Dutch Bend, widely believed to have inspired Frenchman’s Bend in William Faulkner’s Snopes trilogy, Windy Hill offers 120 acres of scenic beauty, featuring lakes, pine forests, and winding trails that reflect the rich cultural and natural history of Mississippi.

At the heart of the property stands a newly rebuilt cabin, restored by Mr. Mike McMullan on the site of a historic family gathering place. Perched atop the ridge, this thoughtfully reimagined retreat now serves as a space for community, reflection, and celebration.

As the evening continues, gather around the fire, enjoy a cigar under the stars, and reflect on the role of storytelling, community, and the arts in shaping Mississippi’s cultural identity.

Hosted by Mr. Mike McMullan and family, this special evening is both an invitation and a call to action: support the arts, celebrate community, and “Come to the bend and see us."

Attire

The evening is inspired by an Argentinian Asado aesthetic: relaxed, rustic, and refined. Think denim, leather, embroidery, and Santa Fe-inspired textures and tones. Western and ranch-style attire is encouraged, with a focus on comfortable elegance suited for an outdoor spring evening under the stars.
