Join us on January 20th for the Small Hall Songwriters Contest! The finalists of the Small Hall Songwriters Contest will perform! The finalists will be judged by Tricia Walker, a Grammy-winning songwriter. She will perform a 30 minute set after the contestants play. Tricia toured playing keyboards and singing backup vocals for Shania Twain, Connie Smith and others. Her songs have been covered by numerous country music stars, including Faith Hill, Patty Loveless and Alison Krauss. She had cuts on three other grammy-nominated albums. She had years of experience in the publishing and business side of music and many, many successful songwriters and performers credit her as a mentor. She has several well received albums of her own. She is now the Director of the Delta Music Institute, Delta State University's state-of-the-art music business, recording and performing school.
The Small Hall Concert series are a mix of Music in the Hall and Tiny Desk Concerts.
Hosted in the small hall on the second floor of the office spaces at 1109 Van Buren, the show offers intimate performances allowing music lovers to hear stories and songs to build a connection with musicians.
Featuring local musicians and touring artists the series is hosted on a Wednesday each month from 7 pm-9 pm. Doors open at 7 pm for attendees claim a seat, have a beverage on the balcony and socialize. Music begins at 7:30 pm.
Proceeds from the shows support Horizons and the Yoknapatawpha Arts Council. Small Hall venue allows guests to bring their own refreshments. Join us on the balcony prior to the concert and then inside for an intimate evening of music.
Single Admission: $8 for members/$10 for non-members
Couples' Admission: $12 for members/$15 for non-members
