Book an Event

The Arts Council manages three event spaces: The Powerhouse, the Old Armory Pavilion, and the Lafayette County Arena. The administrative offices of YAC are located at the Powerhouse which hosts the majority of YAC's events, classes, and programs. The Powerhouse has served as the community's art center since 2006. In the summer of 2015, the YAC began to manage the Old Armory Pavilion. In 2019, YAC partnered with Lafayette County to help manage the Lafatyette County Arena.

Please feel free to contact us at yacoperations@gmail.com or 662-236-6429 with any questions about our three venues!

The Powerhouse

413 S. 14th St.

The Powerhouse has the versatility to host a wide variety of events including weddings, rehearsal dinners, formals, parties, and more! Events can use the Gallery space for smaller gatherings or both the Gallery and the Theatre for larger ones. Use of the Powerhouse includes a variety of tables and chairs, details found in the contract, and has a capacity of 800 standing and 400 seated when using both rooms.

The Powerhouse is located at the corner of S. 14th and University Ave. It's across the street from Ace Hardware, and it's next door to Newk's.

The Old Armory Pavilion

1802 University Ave.

The Arts Council manages the Old Armory Pavilion located on the corner of Bramlett Blvd. and University Ave., and it is available for private rental. The Pavilion was once the site of the National Guard Armory, which was slated for demolition in early 2015. Demolition was halted, however, when city engineer, Bart Robinson, noticed that the building's frame would work as a pavilion.

The Arts Council uses the pavilion to host outdoor events and to partner with local community groups who want to use the space. The Pavilion is also available for private rental.

The Lafayette County Arena

The Lafayette County Arena provides our community with educational programs, classrooms, meeting spaces, and a new agrifocused, indoor arena. The facility is home to the Mississippi State University Extension Service Lafayette County office, which offers educational programs from 4-H to professional training and resources for farmers and businesses.

Through a partnership with Lafayette County, the Mississippi State University Extension Services, and the Yoknapatawpha Arts Council, this new facility will offer educational, recreational, and cultural programs for all residents of Lafayette County.
